Today is Day 1 of the Whole Life Challenge!  I started the day with a banana and some almond butter before heading to CCF for my baseline workout!  I also managed to take some “before” photos, but Hubby won’t let me post them.

The baseline workout today was as follows:

12 min AMRAP

5 burpees

10 sit-ups

15 air squats

I made it through 11 complete rounds and then through 9 sit-ups.  I was pretty pleased with that!  I think I can get even more rounds in if I can speed up my burpees.  I’m terribly slow at them…I blame it on my ape-ishly long arms and legs :-)

After that  baseline (plus measurements of our waist and hips) the morning class was beginning their B set and we were invited to join. More free CrossFit?  I’m in!

B Set:

AMRAP 8 min

8 front squats (I kept the weight low at 35 lbs)

8 pull-ups

8 burpees

I made it through 8 rounds and was pretty tired afterwards!  I know I could have gone heavier on the weight, but I’m working on my form for now.  I’m not the best weightlifter.

This was followed by 2 rounds of 10 shoulder to overhead presses (35 lbs as above) and 10 toes to bar.  I need to learn how to kip on toes to bar. That will be the skill I work on going forward!

Afterwards, we met at one of our favorite parks to let Beau run out his energy!  Poor guy has been a little pent up lately with the cold weather.

The vest helps us see him when he runs ahead.  I bought it for early morning and late night runs as we don’t have many neighborhood street lights here!

Nice and snowy!

Beautiful little park :-)

Afterwards, we headed to Sam’s Club for some groceries.  I like coming here for produce because I eat so much of it (and force Hubby to as well) and it is relatively cheap.  I prefer Costco, but we don’t have one within 45 minutes.

Then we tried a new place for lunch:  Piada

Unfortunately, no GF menu, but they do have a chopped salad bowl, which is what I got.  It was pretty good!  I think I could eat here again, but I’m not dying to go back.

Hubs got the small pasta bowl and small piada (like an italian burrito?).

I got everything they had to offer pretty much :-) Except for cheese of course!  I ate about a 1/3 of it and ate the rest later for a snack.

Then I went for a massage because my lats have been killing me since building a bit more muscle in my upper back.  It feels as if I have guitar strings under my scapula (shoulder blade) they are so tight!  The masseuse did a great job and worked them out nicely. Now to keep up with stretching…right…;-)

When we got home, another snack!

I had a clementine and shared the other with Hubs.  And then some cashews and dried cranberries as a little trail mix.

We are excited for our group date tonight!  Will post about it later I’m sure.

What changes do you want to make in your life and how would you go about making them? Keeping score and turning it into a competition either with myself or with others helps motivate me to change for the better!

xoxo
