Frozen Buns

January 24, 2013

Literally, my buns almost froze off of my body today!  Sooo cold!  I had to park about a mile away from where I work and it was only 15 degrees out AND windy.  No bueno.  I was not dressed appropriately. My bad!

Today was also a big day for me:  I had my first official WOD at Centerville CrossFit!

The skill was:

Hang DL (deadlift) – I did it w/65 lbs…I’m not the best at Olympic Lifts so I’m taking it slow and working on form

The WOD (Workout of the Day) was:

30 KB (Kettlebell) swings (I did 35 lbs for 20 reps and switched to 26 lbs for the last 10)

30 skater lunges

30 C2B (chest to bar) pull-ups

30 box jumps

30 KB Snatches (18 accidentally 30 per arm)

Time:  11:40

**I was the 3rd fastest, but the people who finished ahead of me modified their pull-ups with bands and used much lighter weights…not sure why I felt like I needed to justify that, but I guess its because these workouts bring out your competitive side!

The rest of the day was crazy!  I was the co-chair for this 200+ person luncheon commemorating local humanitarian contributors.  That had me working from 9AM – 2PM.  The rest of my work day was spent playing catch-up.  I got super hungry at 3PM and decided to snack on this new bar!

Tuesday Snack

Has anyone had these before?  I LOVED this one!  They are made my the makers of the Boomi Bar which was one of the first GF bars I ever had.  I was bummed when they went away, but Kind Bars are a close and similar second.  The Rise Bar was delicious and kept me nice and full. It is 280 calories, so its a heavy snack or post workout snack.

For dinner, I made Shepherd’s Pie.  Something I haven’t had in a LONG time.  I’ve really wanted to try it with mashed sweet potatoes, but Hubs really likes “regular” potatoes.  So I figured I’d let him indulge :-)

Browned lean beef on the bottom, layered with a frozen veggie mix (peas, carrots, corn and green beans), and topped with mashed potatoes and cheese.  I sprinkled chives on top for an extra kick.  I decided to cook it in my Pampered Chef cooker from my mother-in-law.  We love this thing!  You can also use it in the microwave.

Isn’t it cute?

After dinner, I completed one of my projects!

I made a photo display with some of our photos from Italy!  I love it, but it will really tie in well once I’ve transformed our living room.  I got the frames from Home Goods and the shelves from Home Depot.  Hubby was my hero and he put them up for me :-)  Love you, hubs!

He did such a great job!

This room is just so barren!  I’m planning on covering the couches myself (uh oh) and buying a few accent pieces.  Plus, the piano should go where the T is (or right under it) and I’m going to get a rug to tie it all together.  I think some end tables with lamps are in order as well.  Here is the room I’m hoping to replicate, but better :-)

I don’t plan on changing out the light fixture, but perhaps having some cute accent lamps would be nice?  The rug, I’ll move to the dining room :-)  I love being able to cross things off my to-do list!

How was your day?  How do you measure success in your life?  I love checklists ;-)
